Audi
Audi created a central user and resource directory named Zebra. Audi’s original intention was only to modernise its communication and telephone directory for its 45,000 employees and the 155,000 people in VW. As part of their IT security strategy, however, the directory data from the HR System, SAP R/3, Windows NT, Exchange and the IBM OS/390 host was to be integrated into the group-wide directory as well.
Using our identity management solution, Zebra was created to help Audi obtain consistent user data over all integrated department directories, with reliable access control and lower administration costs. This in turn also enabled them to comply with international standards for security.
Swiss Re
Swiss Re, one of the world’s leading reinsurers has implemented a single signon solution for external users of its corporate resources as part of its eBusiness strategy. The company’s HR department also saw this project as a chance to get a system that would not require personnel data to be entered over and over again
Both tasks demanded uniform, unambiguous identification of employees. A central directory service was created to pool data from the existing systems and allow new users to register via a portal. On this basis, authorisation for external access was then implemented with a web entry server.
